About Me
I am a proud Scot living in London.
My stories focus on women, mental health, under-represented communities and people living on the margin.
My comfort zone is interviewing migrants in Kos, sex workers in Amsterdam and Travellers in Lincolnshire. But my love of vintage dresses and roller skating has also managed to make their debuts too.
I work across TV, radio and online. I research, record, script, film, write and edit my material.
My documentary style radio features are mainly broadcast on BBC Radio 4 with accompanying long-form features published on the BBC news website. You can also find my work on The World Service, Focus Africa, The News Channel, The One O’clock News, Victoria Derbyshire, BBC London and BBC Stories online.
I have been an ITN Trainee; reported as a News Correspondent for the BBC at a national and regional level; and worked in newsrooms at the BBC, ITV, ITN and Channel 4 News.
I have travelled across the world setting up staff networks to champion women journalists.
I am still proud of my early years in journalism running around the streets of Hackney interviewing sex workers, writing for the TV Collective and recording a London Riots series that appeared in the Hackney Citizen and The Guardian.
Before journalism I was a project manager in ad agencies working on high profile clients.
And Finally…
In 2019 I was delighted to be nominated for a Mind Media Award. One of the judges asked the room to listen to my entry about Dissociative Identity Disorder which he classed as ‘gold standard.’ The overwhelming reaction to my recent story about Colourism in Children has created some wonderful opportunities that I’m working on. I’m excited, my fingers are crossed and hope this dream comes true.
I bring 10 years of journalism experience, a creative spirit, an inquisitive soul and laughter too.
Please do get in touch if you’d like to work together, I’d be delighted to.
